ADD THIS NBA AWARD AND LETS STOP THIS CONFUSION!

ASK YOURSELF WHAT DOES THE MVP MEAN TO YOU?

TO ME,

THE MVP IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM WITH THE BEST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE.

REAL SIMPLE,

RIGHT?

I HAVE AN IDEA THAT HOPEFULLY GETS IMPLEMENTED INTO THE LEAGUE.

MY NEW AWARD:

MOP (MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER)

OR

NBA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

(OPY)

MY AWARD EXPLAINED:

THIS AWARD IS FOR THE BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE FOR THAT YEAR. THIS AWARD WILL GO TO ANY PLAYER THAT IS HAVING AN SPECTULAR SEASON BUT THEY DON’T ALWAYS HAVE THE BEST TEAMMATES FOR VICTORIES.

EXAMPLE:

THIS YEAR IS PERFECT EXAMPLE BECAUSE:

AS I BELIEVE THAT GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM WITH THE BEST RECORD.

AND

JAMES HARDEN IS THE BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE NBA. IF YOU HAD DOUBTS ABOUT HIS CAREER SETTING SEASON. PEEP HIS STATS FOR THIS YEAR.

WELL ABOUT THAT…..

HIS TEAM’S RECORD IS WORST RECORD THEN LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR HARDEN WAS THE MVP THE NBA. HIS TEAM ALSO HAD THE BEST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE.

INJURIES PLAYED A HUGE ROLE AS HIS USUAGE RATE WHEN HIS TEAM WAS GOING THROUGH THEIR INJURIES WAS AN NBA RECORD.

THIS CHART SHOWS ALL THE MVPS IN THE NBA SINCE 1990.

WHAT DO ALL THESE MVPS HAVE IN COMMON ?

BESIDES WESTBROOK BEING THE OBVIOUS ANOMALY. (TRIPLE DOUBLE YEAR) THE TEAM FINISHED 6TH IN THE WEST.

BESIDES THAT,

ALL THE MVPS SINCE 1990 WERE PLAYERS WITH THEIR TEAMS THAT FINISHED TOP 2 IN THE LEAGUE.

THIS LIST PROVES THAT THE MVP IS THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER ON THE TEAM THAT HAS WON THE MOST REGULAR SEASON GAMES.

THE PROBLEM:

THE NBA HAS HAD SO MANY OUTSTANDING PLAYERS THAT MORE SHOULD RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR GREATNESS.

REGARDLESS OF TEAM RECORD.

AWARD BREAKDOWN:

MVP = LEADER, BEST RECORD, AND THEY ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE FINALS.

MOP/OPY = MOST UNSTOPPABLE , DOESNT NECESSARY RESULTS IN WINS BECAUSE THAT TEAM MAY NOT BE THAT GREAT.

CAN A PLAYER WIN BOTH AWARDS?

YES

HERE ARE 3 YEARS FOR EXAMPLE:

2005-2006

MVP- STEVE NASH (BEST RECORD)

MOP- KOBE (AVERAGED 35.4P 5.3R 4.5A 1.8S & TEAM FINISHED 7TH IN THE WEST)

2002- 2003

MVP- TIM DUNCAN (BEST RECORD)

MOP- TRACY MCGRADY (AVERAGED 32.1P 6.5R 5.5A 1.7S & TEAM FINISHED 7TH IN THE EAST)

1992-1993

MVP- CHARLES BARKLEY (BEST RECORD)

MOP- MICHAEL JORDAN (AVERAGED 32.6P 6.7R 5.5A 2.8S) 3RD BEST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE.
